You may meet her in the parking area. Štefka notices you, comes to say hello and sometimes joins the walk to the terrace. For a moment, the pace you arrived with falls away. There is a cat with time for you.
We call her the restaurant’s “prvi smrček”: our first little nose of welcome. Hers is an unscheduled kind of hospitality. A brief hello one evening, a companion all the way to the terrace another. Always on Štefka’s terms.
A little pause in the evening
Sometimes the reason to pause is outside.
Sometimes guests want to pause the evening, step outside and give her a little affection. Among the flavours and conversations, they make room for another moment with her. It is a reminder that feeling welcome is made of things we could never put on a menu.
